The importance of taking good care of one’s mouth

June 19, 2017

A new injection moulding machine is one of Ryan Carlton’s significant point of difference at Dentures Plus, the business he bought last year.

The machine is state-of-the-art equipment among clinical dental technicians and Ryan enthuses over the superior product it produces.

“It provides a more precise fit for the denture which is also stronger,” he says.

Formerly from South Canterbury, Ryan trained in Wellington and Dunedin before moving south to Christchurch after he qualified in 2001. When Dentures Plus was put on the market, Ryan seized the opportunity to expand his business and purchase the well known Dentures Plus.

“I have a lot of experience making all types of dentures,” he says.

Ryan can trace his interest in the dental field back to his mother who worked as a dental technician when she was in her early 20s.

“I took art and metalwork at school and always wanted to do something with my hands. Those subjects were perfect training for doing this job,” he says.

Many people under-estimate the importance of taking good care of one’s mouth.
“Teeth are always something that we, as a nation, leave until last. So many other things are put before them. Yet the sooner dental matters are resolved the better. They may prove difficult to fix if they are left too long,” Ryan says.

“Gums can be affected by bacteria growing on dentures which can lead to oral decay and sore, inflamed gums. Dealt with early, the solution can be simple and something that doesn’t cost much.”

He says those looking for a good denture cleaner should not look past Caldent which is sold by Dentures Plus.

Four friendly, highly trained staff provide accomplished back-up for Ryan. They frequently attend training courses to improve their skills and knowledge base.
“We offer a fast-repair service for anyone who breaks their dentures and requires urgent help,” he says.

“We also provide a free consultation in which we check over a client’s dentures and see what the problems are and how they can be resolved."
